Small update, I'll post more pics and explanation when I get back to work later this week from the desktop.

Been working on the fresh air inlet and blower motor hole and a bunch of rust in the cowl area.

Alright I figured I would post a little better explanation of my madness from last weekend.

So I had opened up the lower cowl area where the fresh air vents enter the cab and found a bunch of rust and debris. No big surprise but I needed to deal with it if I want the cab to last another 40 plus years.

I'm cutting off the upper cowl sheetmetal to give me access to the area and to get a better idea of what I'm gonna do.

All of this metal removal will make fixing the windshield seam rust a whole lot easier too.

The dark area to the right of the oval fresh air vent, is actually the pocket that the squirrel cage blower fits into. I'm not going to be using it anymore and had previously blanked the hole but since I had gone this far I decided I would remove the pocket completely and give myself a little more room under the dash.

Slowly cutting away the sheet metal so that I can get access to this bracket. It is the attachment point for the front fender and cowl cover. So getting it back in the right place is pretty important. Slow going here.

Once I got the sheet metal cleared I fabbed a jig for locating the bracket back into the correct spot when I put it back together.

More shit cleared out.

I used 16 gauge sheet metal to start forming my patches. I don't have any metal shaping tools other than a few body hammers and some dollies. So I decided I could accomplish the radius in two sections. This is the first piece mocked up, not perfect by any means but close enough for me.

I trimmed out the metal and inserted the first piece. Shaped up a second piece, trimmed and began welding it in place. Still have a lot to do here but that the last pic I took.

Long weekend coming up and I hope to make some more progress. :tmc:

 Thanks Scott. Sheet metal is not my favorite part but it will get done. As long as I keep a good supply of grinding discs, all can be saved. :jester:
