How are you gonna title this thing? There's very little that is a "1971 C-10" truck anymore.
Kinda like George Washington's ax, where the handle had been replaced three times, and the head twice.
All meant as a compliment, here. A lot of work and looks very well done.
No offense taken. In reality the cab is still the same, just patch panels to replace the rotted areas, the VIN plate is attached to the B Pillar about a foot up from the rocker panel. That matches the title..
Now, the frame. Yes I am changing everything on the frame EXCEPT the frame rails. They have a VIN on them that coincides with the title also. Outside of that nothing else matters as far as the title and registration is concerned.
From a "purist" standpoint it isn't gonna be numbers matching though. I let the original block get away from me when I sold my shop but the transmission and rear end are all original. Well the housings at least.
The original block was in the process of becoming a 383 stroker. I gave away the long block and a set of Dart II heads when I sold my place. God only knows where it is now and it's not a big enough concern for me to chase it down. Titling and registration won't be an issue and I'm good with the history of the truck and comfortable with it's future.
I know you should never say never but... I never plan to sell this thing.
