Alright, so my plan for the truck has been shifting due to time and parts being on back order. So I dedided to just tear the MF'er apart and start from the ground up. I just can't do the welding in the backyard with the wind blowing my shielding gas away so I need to get the cab into the garage.
Spent a solid day taking most of the stuff from the garage to the storage unit that I have and will finish taking the rest when I get back after Christmas. Then haul the cab into the garage. I built a dolly so I can move it around and keep it out of the way when I'm gone and not have to get chewed out by the wife for kicking her out of the garage during winter.
Been stacking parts:
Cab corners, inner rockers with floor panel, kick panels, lower A pillar patch.
Stripped the interior and everything from the firewall to lighten the load up.
Used my porta power kit and jacked the cab up a little at a time until I got it clear of the frame rails. Must have made a thousand trips around the cab jacking and blocking.
After it was up enough I slid a 2x4 and a 2x6 under it and slid some pushrods between the boards to act as rollers. If I was doing it again like this I would have gotten 12' foot boards instead of 10' and an extra set of jackstands. Just made more work for myself with shorter boards. But it got done.
At this point I had to shift my stands and boards around, but the thing slid like it weighted nothing so it was really easy to move.
Build the cab dolly out of some 8" swivel casters and the lumber that I bought for moving the cab off the frame. Why didn't I just use metal? It's easier for me to run to Lowe's and grab some boards and when I'm finished I can toss them in a burn pile and not have something else to trip over.
And my favorite shot, hooked up to the lawnmower giving the contraption a test pull.
