I wouldn't drive a slammed truck, but I would drive a bagged truck.
Is there a difference? Yes. At least IMO there is. To me, a slammed truck is one that has been lowered a good bit but it's static. The suspension is not adjustable. You see a speed bump? You're screwed because your truck is only 3 inches from the ground.
But air bag suspension is adjustable, and you can raise your truck up some if you want a higher ride height. If I had the cash, I'd do air suspension. But I'm a poor sumbitch and and I can barely afford the damn gas for my truck. :lol:

It will be running fully adjustable air suspension. Speed bumps won't be an issue. :lol:

But I will probably cruise pretty low. :thumbs:

Got a little done this weekend:

Porterbuilt Tubular Core Support Crossmember came in, so I cleaned up the original core support mounts and primed and painted the parts. Install went well, had to enlarge the frame holes and bracket holes to 7/16" to accept the new hardware. Porterbuilt supplied grade 8, 7/16 nuts and bolts with Ny-Loc nuts. Pretty impressed with the quality of everything.



Yes, I'm diggin the big run of primer. lol

Core Support and Battery Tray cam in so I started putting that together and checking fit and what other shit I'm gonna need to order.







Still waiting on one fender but I couldn't resist bolting this one on.



Needs some tweaking to make the body lines match.

Porterbuilt Cowl Mounted Hinges came in too. Loosely assembled them and did a hardware check.



From the tons of reading I've done on the net, I knew it was a good idea to tap each threaded hole in the hinges. The threaded studs had a tendency to warp slightly during the welding process, making the bolts hard to screw in and even galling the threads to the point of breaking bolts!

So I whipped out my 5/16"-18 tap and some cutting fluid and chased all the threaded holes. Afterwards I made sure I could screw everything in by hand with no resistance.



Hood plates



Hinge arm with ball pivots for gas shocks.



No instructions come with the kit so you have to know where to find a write up. Luckily I knew. :D

Drivers side hinge base has a notch in the base, other than that there is no way to tell one side from the other.





I used anti-seize on all threaded connections. Most of the hardware is stainless so I didn't want a galling issue.

Took everything apart and shot primer on every piece.



To begin, you locate the center line of the cowl. I measured from the two outside side cowl bolts to find my center.



Did my math and figured 32 3/8" from the side would be my center. Stuck some tape down and used my Sharpie to mark it. Then measured out 23" from the center on each side for my hinges.



The hinge bases won't drop in the cowl opening so you have to do some trimming. Set one up and traced it out. Cut what I needed with my Dremel and a cut off wheel.





Make some pattern of the hinge face so you know where to slice the cowl. I used some small magnets I got from my kids room. :D To hold them in place for marking the holes.







Mounted and had a little trimming to do for the hinge pin nut.





Driver side went well so I hopped over to the passenger side.







Done, for now. When the fenders and core support are complete I'll set the hood on and weld those plates on. For now, this will do.
