Time for an update???

No pics just words.
I still haven't touched the truck, I've been too busy trying to finish the shop.

I wanted to retire from ships but found it too difficult to get a good paying job around home. Too many resume's and no call backs. So I had decided I would just have to go back to the ships to make money.

I was on a ship and got a call from an automation company wanting to hire me. I accepted, retired from shipping and started working as a Service Engineer last week.

I couldn't be happier, fly around and fix broken shit! Right up my alley.:D

Thanks Jeff, Carl the company is Instruments & Controls Inc. Or ICI for short out of Westminster Maryland. It's a small company with only 10 employees.
We do service work on anything electrical, instrumentation and automated. I've known most of the guys for close to 20 years, great bunch of guys and very knowledgeable.
We'll do mostly marine work, ships and barges. I'm in Norfolk working on one ship, Friday I take a different ship out for sea trials. Then Monday we have a job on a third ship. There will be a bunch of travel but I'm ready for it.

Well the sad reality of it is that if I want to make a good living, my skills are suited for the marine industry.

I can understand that. As bad as I want to get out of siding/roofing, I don't know anything else. I've been doing this crap since 1980. :uhoh:

Gonna try to get up to date.
The shop is finally finished and it’s time to work in it instead of on it. Central heat and air, epoxy floor and the two post lift.

Brought the frame rails out and started finishing up the welding.

Got rid of those hideous factory mounting points for the steering sector. Always hated when people go with rack and pinion and you still see all the original bumps in the frame.

Carried a bunch of stuff to the powder coater.

Used some urethane chassis paint from Summit in the frame rails and started bolting shit together.
