Hey Tinkerbell :D, can you take some pics and show how you did the board on the back wall...I had the hardest time trying to get my set off a couple of months ago and I for the life of me couldn't get the back seat off the wall ! So your pics and all would be sweet when I re-do my system I wanna mount everything on the back wall too

Yeah man will do. I put the headunit in tonight--time to read the manual. When I install everything else I'll be taking pictures.

Yeah the HU is awesome. I can see why they call it their flagship model. It comes with everything you could want. The only thing I have yet to hook up is the speedo cable for GPS gas mileage and whatnot, but everything else works perfectly.

Oh it's about time for an update. Despite some more pain in the shoulder I just spent the last six hours working on the system.

Here's a list of what I did. I didn't take pics as I was doing it--would have taken too long. I'll take some shots tomorrow of what I have so far.

  1. Bought a 4x2 sheet of wood for amps
  2. Spliced and prepared amp kit for installation
  3. Measured allowed space in truck for amp board
  4. Made sure amps would fit and cut board to size
  5. Installed amp board
  6. Wired truck, leaving all wires loose at amp ends
  7. Hooked up amps
  8. Put amps on board
  9. Gobbling elf cookies and milk and rubbing my lower back a lot

This is the list I made for myself on what order I was going to do everything. Made it much easier:
-Pull off all trim
-Disconnect negative battery terminal
-Pull out all old wire

Both power wires
  1. Connect to battery
  2. Run down between wheel well and engine bay
  3. Run through framing underneath truck
  4. Pull through grommett at rear passenger door
  5. Leave unconnected
  6. Splice both wires at battery and install fuses

Both ground wires
  1. Wire cup brush on frame
  2. Self-tapping screws to put ground to frame
  3. Leave unconnected

New speaker wires (RT side)
  1. Run from door panel into truck through rubber wire cover (whatever that thing is called)---THIS WAS A BITCH
  2. Run under door sill trim to rear
  3. Leave unconnected

New speaker wires (LF side)
  1. Same process as RT side, except this was much harder
  2. Cuss a lot
  3. Get it into truck
  4. Run down door sill trim
  5. Run over to right side
  6. Leave unconnected

RCA Cables (Spkr and Sub)
  1. Connect at back of head unit and run underneath driver's carpet
  2. Run down door sill trim
  3. Run to right side
  4. Leave unconnected

Remote turn-on for amps
  1. Same as RCA cables

Connect amps
  1. Connect power for each
  2. Connect ground for each
  3. Connect Remote turn-on
  4. Connect RCA cables
  5. Connect speaker wires for 7204 (spkrs)
  6. No speaker wires yet for subs

Mount amps on board
  1. Drill pilot holes for each amp
  2. Screw into amp board
  3. Fix wires tomorrow

It took quite a while but I accomplished a lot today. It was non-stop working. I didn't even break to take a drink. I'm dying now. DYING. But I'm one step closer.

Can't wait to see the pics. Can you snap some pics of where you ran the wires through and stuff like that like the grommets etc...

Sounds like you and your shoulder had a fun afternoon

Yeah man I'll pop off a few panels tomorrow and take pics of where I routed everything. You'll have to excuse the dog hair, though. I haven't bothered vacuuming since before school started back up and probably won't until this whole audio thing is done.
