Thanks, guys. I'll try to get some more videos tomorrow if I have time. I'll also see if I can rent a camcorder from our library (not sure if they still do that). It does sound amazing in person---much, much better than my previous setup.

Thanks, guys. The difference is amazing. It hits harder, louder, and is more crisp. Such a more natural sound than the preloaded MTX.

Pretty cool. I feel your pain(partially) as I replaced all my speaker wire(per my thread) rewarding but a major PITA(and other parts.) What gauge did you go with? Did you black RTV or bicycle patch your rubber door boots or did it not cut all the way through?

I don't know what a NNBS Chevy extended looks like but I find it interesting the difference between your Ford back seat and the one in my '02 Silvey. Mine removes in one piece.

Haven't given much thought on mounting my amps there(if they fit ) but it would be a bitch to service them if needed. I like that you can pop just your backs out.

Where you able to use a single DIN kit for your HU and just trim the bezel? or was there some other cutting involved?

Any particular reason you went under the truck with the power wire and not through the cab via the sill ?

So far my plans will be patchchords down the middle(gotta sound deaden so the center console will be out anyway) through a flat chord channel then power down one sill channel on the DS and front speaker wires through the other.

I have a Chow/Samoyed mix so I can relate to the hair. When she sheds not only does she leave a ton of hair when I brush her out it's like there's enough for 2 or 3 dogs.

Nice trick with the glove. I'm going to give it a go. I have a nice shop vac but DAMN that hair is STUUUUBORN.

Love that $7 trim tool. SANITY SAVER!!

VERY nice lay out of your progress!

As you found out Chilton's doesn't get into much of this and you just saved other guys who read this (with your style of truck) A LOT of headache.:D2

Lots of questions...I love it. I used the speaker wire that came with the amp kit---I believe it was 16 ga. When I originally ran new speaker wire I did cut through the door boots, but you brought up a good point about sealing those holes to keep moisture out. I will go do that when I get a chance, thanks.

It's nice having the back seats remove as they do, but there isn't much space back there. Ford guys have done trial and error to find what works best.

No trimming of the bezel--'04-'08 F150s came stock with DD head units.

I went under the cab because it's a lot easier than trying to run it through the firewall. It was difficult enough running the wire to my alarm siren from inside the cab out through the firewall--I couldn't imagine going the other way. Not only is there a ton of stuff in the way, but it's so low that it's almost impossible to shove it through. Going underneath is fine as long as it's protected. Ford almost made that grommet under the rear passenger seat for us audio guys.

Thanks man. I'll check out your thread when I get a chance to sit down and read it. As for the glove trick, don't use water like I did. I found that it balls up much easier without the water---it's just using static electricity. Works so good.

No prob and FU on the DD:pfingers: JK yeah that pisses me off there is no room for it in a Chevy without trimming the 1 1/2 hole out. No biggie just another PITA to deal with.

Don't think Chevy has "said grommet" I never pealed the carpet(no need for now) and never looked underneath either. I honestly haven't fully checked out the "room for wire thing" I have plenty of 4 gauge so the options for running it are wide open (length wise) and do you have a solid idea on protecting it? If not I'll snap a picture of what I have on my wire(from the previous vehicle) It's clear flexible rubber type tubing from like HD/lowes etc. just silicone both ends so moisture doesn't creep in. (No biggie probably if it did just precautionary) I mean it's like adding ANOTHER layer of insulation to what's all ready there.

My battery is on the opposite size(you know Ford and GM can't be consistant on anything ALWAYS the opposite:lol:) but my "theory" is run strait from the battery through the DS grommet and down the sill to the rear. AGAIN "theory" as you pointed out with all the shit stuffed threw there it could be the same cluster **** as you and I ran into with the rubber door loom.:fume:(I'm sure that was your FIRST thought then went with plan B)

NOT alot of room to fart let alone run 12 gauge(as I did) through it.

I'll be doing the glove thing today or tommorrow. KILLER idea!

The grommet I'm talking about is under the door sill trim on the rear passenger side. Not sure if you guys have one but it makes life a heck of a lot easier running power wires back there. As far as protecting it, when I did my first install I didn't put anything over it and it was fine. To be safe this time I put 1/2" wire loom over both of them. That will be enough to keep dirt and debris out. As long as the wire isn't cut I don't see a problem. If you want to be extra careful they make this stuff called Tech Flex.

Yeah they don't leave us much room at all. Packaging science at it's finest.

Take some before and after pics of the dog hair--you'll be amazed at the difference. What I did was use a strong little hand vac to get up a lot of it, then used the glove to ball the rest of it up, then used the vacuum again to get the ball of hair up.
