It's the Baker Snowqualmie National Forest, so the DNR?? They section off the forest and you can collect tops, trunks, or dead fall. They have alot more areas open this year due to the wind storm.
The last wind storm we had knocked down alot of trees. People are going out and cutting up firewood without getting a permit. Permits are $50 and you can pull out 8 cords per year. But some are cheating the system.

Jim, you are so correct. I refuse to up date mine with something new until Ford's designing contract it up and Tata unleashes the new ones in '12. Ford ruined these and made them ugly.
I have never had an issue other than little things on my '04. And the 2 old ones are like tanks.
