My Suburban passed California Smog Test

Glad you got your sticker without trouble GD. Thankfully MA stopped doing emissions tests on vehicles that predate OBDII. So my 85' only has to pass safety. On my 03' the check engine light was on when I took it for an inspection, they diagnosed it as a bad glow plug, and since the truck is...

As good as it gets for now... 1/8th mile...

I wouldt shift the transfercase while your under power. Every truck I have seen leaves it in 4HI until they cross the line, then shift it back to 2HI.

2 Cycle Oil In Your Gas Tank

Riggs, everyone is just adding what they think. If you want to try it, by all means go for it. Keep the ratio under 200:1 and you'll be ok, but you wont see any benefit, and 2 stroke oil is expensive. If you had an old diesel truck, that was used to high sulfer diesel, the the 2 stroke works...

As good as it gets for now... 1/8th mile...

Next time, try it in 4WD. The axles and transfer cases in our trucks are very stout. I've seen guys running high 10's on the stock systems. If anything breaks, it will be your transmission....

2 Cycle Oil In Your Gas Tank

Very good points. The 02 sensors and catalytic converters do not like unburned hydrocarbons. Gasoline engines can not burn hot enough to completely burn the oil. Damage may result. Another good point. Gasoline already has additives for lubricity and for cleaners. Adding 2 stroke oil...

    Trans temp range?

+1, over 250 the fluid starts to break down very quickly. Under 200 is ideal.

What is your tire of choice?

Michelin LTX A/T 245/75R15 Load range E. They are just awesome! Unfortunately, some genius at Michelin decided to drop the line up so when these wear out I will be looking at alternates.

    SEMA Awarded Biodiesel Product

If your just making it for personal use, I really dont think you will have a problem. Just be careful who you sell it to, you dont want them running their mouths.

How to replace the GMT800 Intermediate Steering Shaft (ISS)

Does this only cover half ton trucks? The reason I ask is that shaft looks A LOT different then the one in my 3/4 ton. The process for a 3/4 and 1 ton should be similar though right?

    SEMA Awarded Biodiesel Product

Be careful with that. Biodiesel isnt an approved road fuel in most states, and the lack of paid road taxes (state and federal) gets the tax men very unhappy. From my own research and experience, as long as its for personal use, most places wont care. When you start selling it (or even giving it...

    SEMA Awarded Biodiesel Product

Mmmmm Biodiesel...... .tasty....... The biggest problem with biodiesel is supply. You need a reliable supply and need to know what your getting. Different oils have different glycerins strands and need to be processed differently. If you can overcome those, biodiesel is a penny...

    Differential Fluid for my Z71

+1, and definately go synthetic. Royal Purple and Amsoil already include the LSD additive, if you go Mobil 1 or another brand you will need to add it yourself, depending on what you have in the rear. Good luck.

    VVT in a gm 6.0l?

I believe 2007 was the first year for the V8's to have it. From what I have read into it, the cost to add the VVT to the V8's was more then they thought, which is why it took them longer to add it when compared to the I4 and V6 engines.

    VVT in a gm 6.0l?

My mistake, you are correct. I thought he was asking about 6.0 engines using only VVT. Of which only the 2500 and 3500 series trucks do.

This is the best article written on it that I have found. http://www.gmhightechperformance.com/tech/0903gmhtp_l92_comp_cams_vvt_cam_kit_install/index.html The article is on a 6.2L, but it will explain how the VVT works
