Looks like the biodiesel processing is getting more affordable. These guys have a system that will fit in your garage and make 40 gallons in 5 hours. Here's their site and a bit about the product. I'm no "greenie" but it is interesting.

1.) Extreme Green Machine **COMING SOON**
Introducing our new economical 40 gallon portable processor, the Extreme Green Machine! We are very proud to have received the "Best New Product Global Award" from the SEMA Show last year in Las Vegas. This little dynamo will process 40 gallons in approximately 5 hours! This system comes with a drywash filter, which means no waterwashing! It has a separate totally enclosed methoxide mixing chamber. This system also comes with an inline heater that will pre-heat the oil in about 90 minutes. This processor is fully mobile with its easy moving castors. The Extreme Green Machine comes with mold-in graphic volume levels on the tanks that will never wear off.
5-Hour system $1,995

Mmmmm Biodiesel...... .tasty.......

The biggest problem with biodiesel is supply. You need a reliable supply and need to know what your getting. Different oils have different glycerins strands and need to be processed differently. If you can overcome those, biodiesel is a penny pinchers wet bliss dream.

:werd: IMO it would be too much hassle, constantly having to search for the fry or bacon grease. Then on top of that process it.

"Turbo diesel taco badass" - exactly!

I don't think it would be to hard to get the oil, it might at first but after you set up a couple different reliable sources then I think the only hassle would be finding the time to do it.

All in all id get it. And you could always sell it after you make it

Be careful with that. Biodiesel isnt an approved road fuel in most states, and the lack of paid road taxes (state and federal) gets the tax men very unhappy. From my own research and experience, as long as its for personal use, most places wont care. When you start selling it (or even giving it away) the tax man gets upset.

If your just making it for personal use, I really dont think you will have a problem. Just be careful who you sell it to, you dont want them running their mouths.
