Guys, keep in mind that insurance laws vary from state to state. Like some states have glass insurance. Here it just falls under comprehensive. Some states uninsured motorist coverage is mandatory, some states it is not.

What's your point there? It doesn't change the fact she didn't have it and it doesn't change the fact that right now, she's fucked. :dunno:

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
The way I understand it ... from my Agent...
I just now called him and talked to him...

It doesn't matter who is driving my car...(as long as he has a valid license and has my permission)...the Insurance is good... even if I am out of town and driving a rental...
+1

And another 1

Interesting. I'll have to ask again. Or maybe not. I really don't want anybody driving my truck if I'm out of town!

I have State Farm and have asked about rental car insurance. They told me that I am covered if I am driving a rental car, with the insurance from my truck. But technically if my truck was driven and wrecked, while I was out of town and driving the rental, the truck wouldn't be covered.

That's odd.

Maybe I worded it poorly, but he basically told me the insurance follows me as the driver. And therefore, if I'm the "driver" on my truck, it wouldn't be driven if I weren't there.

Unless you have a non standard policy or your state has a different regulation, this applies to insurance

The insurance policy follows the VEHICLE that you use/own
The insurance policy TRANSFERS to a rental that you rent
the insurance policy EXTENDS to a permissive (policy defined) use driver that you grant

highlighted words are words that people either misuse or dont remember, take it from an insurance adjuster.

What if it's like I said where I'm in Texas with a rental car, and my uninsured buddy wrecks my truck? (Not that I'd let him drive, but work with me here) Maybe I misinterpreted my agent :dunno:

funny, that very thing happened to me two weeks ago.
Loaned my truck out since a friend needed to move some stuff, he hits an ATM in the process.
I was in a rental for a different reason at the time. the insurance policy covered the rental that I was in for the duration of me renting it. The insurance policy covered the accident from my friend. All they asked me is whether he lived in the house, if he frequently drove the truck and if I gave him permission to drive it.

to the OP, sorry that she is out of luck.
