Your moms isurance should have a unisured plan in her policy. In other words if some one hers her and they do not have insurance your moms insurance will pay to have it fixed if it is not totaled (which to me looks like no). Then your mom insurance company will go after the other party for the repair cost. Or if you mom has full coverage you could turn it in on your moms insurance and the person that hit her could pay the deducable? So there would be no money out of your moms pocket. Therr is lots of ways to do it. Best think is for your mom to talk to her insurance company and see what her best option is. And for god sakes dont sign nothing untill you fully understand it.

Now as far as insurance fallowing you from car to car...... I know that my mom was with her sisters for their sister weekend and she fell out of the car and smacked her head/mouth on the curb and her insurance company payed for it and she was in her sisters car.? Your insurance fallows you to a certan exstint and thats it. I think she said something about her insurance covers her if she was in a accadent but dont think it covers the car? Im not totaly sure on that?

That's too bad. Unfortunately it's a necessary thing to carry. I had an uninsured fWONk hit one of my vehicles several years ago. I did file in court against and got a judgement against him. Then filed a lien. He can't sell anything he owns (property) until I'm satisfied. I may one day get something from the guy.

Uninsured/under insured insurance repaired the vehicle. If he pays, it'll go to the insurance company for reimbursement

Sorry to be honest about this, but your mom is screwed. All she can do is try to sue the person who hit her. My brother (the one you met, Cory) got sideswiped by some Mexican who couldn't even speak english. He tried to flee but was stuck in a ditch. He had a buddy of his pull up in a truck with a tow strap trying to yank him out just as the cops arrived. It turns out the guy had an ID, but no driver's license. The vehicle had a temp tag with his name on it (even though he had NO license :wtf:) According to his paperwork, he bought the car about a month prior, and also had an insurance card with the same date on it. The cop refused to verify the insurance, he said the card was proof enough. Sure enough, when my brother called his insurance company they said his policy was canceled about two weeks prior to the accident for non payment. The address and phone number and everything was all fake. Shit, for all I know the guy's ID was fake too. :dunno: And because my brother did not have full coverage, or uninsured motorist coverage, he was screwed. 8k worth of damage on a car worth about 11k. As far as I know he is still driving it all wrecked on the side, and this was about 3 years ago.

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
I have State Farm and have asked about rental car insurance. They told me that I am covered if I am driving a rental car, with the insurance from my truck. But technically if my truck was driven and wrecked, while I was out of town and driving the rental, the truck wouldn't be covered.

That's odd.

Maybe I worded it poorly, but he basically told me the insurance follows me as the driver. And therefore, if I'm the "driver" on my truck, it wouldn't be driven if I weren't there.

Unless you have a non standard policy or your state has a different regulation, this applies to insurance

The insurance policy follows the VEHICLE that you use/own
The insurance policy TRANSFERS to a rental that you rent
the insurance policy EXTENDS to a permissive (policy defined) use driver that you grant

highlighted words are words that people either misuse or dont remember, take it from an insurance adjuster.

What if it's like I said where I'm in Texas with a rental car, and my uninsured buddy wrecks my truck? (Not that I'd let him drive, but work with me here) Maybe I misinterpreted my agent :dunno:

The way I understand it ... from my Agent...
I just now called him and talked to him...

It doesn't matter who is driving my car...(as long as he has a valid license and has my permission)...the Insurance is good... even if I am out of town and driving a rental...

Guys, keep in mind that insurance laws vary from state to state. Like some states have glass insurance. Here it just falls under comprehensive. Some states uninsured motorist coverage is mandatory, some states it is not.
