The top of the beam is "FLAT" ... that way it does not blind oncoming drivers...
If you shine a flashlight at the wall... the spot of light on the wall is a circle...
If you put a piece of something over the upper portion of the front of the flashlight... the bottom part is still a circle.. but the top part now has a sharp cutoff...

Try that sometime. You might be surprised. :)

I just tried it...
It kinda does it, but it doesn't work as well as I thought it would... :dunno:

When I pull up to my garage door... the HID headlights in the car have a VERY FLAT LINE across the door.... about waist high...
Now I am gonna have to find out how they do that.
I do know it has an "EYELID" on the inside of the light that moves up and down...

Because of the reflector you get a lot of "scatter", so shielding in front of the lens isn't very effective. And to do it behind the lens you'd have to put the block at the bottom, not the top. Think about it.... :)

Ok so if we do a DDM, which kit? Slim or Raptor and 35 or 55 watt?

Slim 35w.

If you get HIDs you should pull the fuses for the DRLs. Hell I pulled the fuse for the DRLs anyway. Stock headlights won't burn out so fast then.

I'd stay away from the slim. That's what I had and it was a PITA and finally gave out on me.

Carl has had no problems with his though

And do I really want them to be my DRL?

DRL's are easy enough to disable.. :D

(Mine was already disabled, when I took the pictures, obviously...)

That was for a 2007 Sierra. I can't remember what year model yours is, but surely they didn't change up the fuse box much.. :dunno:
