That $499 price point includes installation from BestBuy. Their installation has a lifetime guarantee. That's not a guarantee on the unit, but if for any reason the wires work loose, etc., they'll fix it free for life. I had them install my 5301 kit and it's working great. There were a couple of small hiccups but they got it right and it's been fine ever since.
You will have to pay extra for the bypass unit though since it's not considered part of the "basic" installation.
If you can find someone reputable locally to install it and then guarantee their work for life, I'd say go for it. Otherwise, I'd suggest paying the $499 plus the cost of the module and being certain that if you ever have issues, there will be someone there to fix it.

It was an issue that the "pros" at best buy had no clue how to fix. I told you exactly what the problem was and what needed to be done to fix it. That's kinda sad that you had to go explain to the installers how to get it working right.
