Find one that you can truly afford, that'd be my only advice.

08 would be the perfect year to buy one just b/c everything has been worked out but if that is out of the cards then 06 07 wouldn't be bad either. I like the look of the round fog lights better on the 06-08 personally.

Cam Phasors were a problem in the 04 o5's too just keep that in mine I had to replace mine about 10k ago

Check if the spark plugs have been changed or need to be. Some older models with the 5.4L had some issues with the plugs.

Exactly what I was about to post... there are a lot of information out there about how to get them out without cracking the plugs... BUT I've heard a lot of guys who crack a few of them and are getting charged out the wazoo... now if you can do it yourself and follow the TSB's then you might be okay... But I could be wrong, but if you wanted to steer clear of the plug problem I think if you went with an 07' or newer you would be okay.. I think the 04-06's were having the majority of the problems

Other than that I thought an 04+ would be a great choice for you! I've got an 05' with 65k with supercharged since practically new and its been running strong sense.

Just like the GM's or dodges... tuner makes it night & day with the the 5.4L.. Some people have said that the 5.4L is underpowered but I would have to disagree.. the 4.6 might be a little sluggish, but plenty of lifted with bigger tires out there running 4.6 just fine but most have regeared

Seems a lot of people are having problems with the window (up/down) button on the trucks.. like the contact points build up a lot of carbon and just need to be cleaned... but that's all I can think of right now...

x3 on spark plugs. IIRC, if your truck has the newer brown spark plugs then it shouldn't be an issue changing them. I'll let you know in 10K.

Mark, as for the window up/down button, check out the latest tech how-to. :D

The 4.6 is like the 4.8... Only suited for RCSB's or 2WD extended cabs (unless you're going to regear for the bigger tires...) and the mini-trucks

The 4.6 should be in the Ranger :dunno:

im having trouble finding the perfect truck, im looking everywhere for it..

also i am buying it from scratch since i am going to do a frame off build / restore on my current truck so im not trading that in or selling it, basically just sandblasting and painting everything, and rebuilding and replacing what needs to be replaced at 135,000
