i dont know much about ford trucks since ive owned a gm for the past 3 years, but i want to buy a 04+ ford and go a different route than a gmc or a chevy, i wont own a ford older than a 04 since they are ugly, but i like the 04+ trucks quite a bit.

I want to tint the windows, level it, and run 35s, and some sort of exhaust.

but is there any thing i should look for on these trucks? issues or defects or maybe where rust starts or something? anything i should know when looking at them?

Check if the spark plugs have been changed or need to be. Some older models with the 5.4L had some issues with the plugs.

I really like the 04-08 Ford body style. The 4.6 isn't as powerful as the GM trucks but they are good trucks overall. I'd look for a 5.4 myself.

I've heard some of the early 3-valve heads didn't like letting go of their spark plugs. So probably shoot for an 05+. I might be mistaken but I think Ford didn't offer more than an LSD until fairly recently.

I would not rule out Dodge then. All three make a good truck and there are some sick ass Lariat Dodges out there.

I bought an 05 F150 4x4 Excab today with a bad 5.4. It seems to be a somewhat common problem. I'm not knocking Ford, but I see it more than I should.
