Not really any more unusual than 5 bolts. It's just what Ford chose to use.

4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - and even 10 bolt patterns have been used. I've even seen some 3 bolt wheels on some old French cars.

The Corvette stingray 3 concept car from several years ago only had 3 lugs also.

Same thing, 1500HD, 2500LD, basically a waste of a trim level, at least they are in proper order now, 1500, 2500Hd, 3500HD.

But with GM...you got a different engine as well.

I still think the 1500HD was still pointless....but not nearly as pointless as Ford's F250 that was just a 150 with more lug nuts.
