I just have to ask...are you going off of a set of plans, or are you playing all this by ear?
Exceptional detail in everything you're doing.

The parts are all pieces of a kit custom built by Porterbuilt Fabrication in Arizona. The front stuff all has instructions online but the rear kit is just a pile of parts. So it does require a little knowledge in how to assemble a huge rear notch. There is only a handful of the rear kits built like what I have so it is uncharted territory to some degree. I've seen enough of these large rear notches at shows and helped my buddy do a few, so I was pretty confident in knowing how they go. But my ass still puckered a little when I chopped out the frame rails.

If it's crooked, you can always just put your Z71 stickers on crooked the other way to make it look right.

Doesn't look like much progress but there has been a ton of welding and grinding going on. All of the notch pieces are in place and welded, just dressing up the welds to make things real smooth.

Time for an update. Been feeling crappy the past couple of weekends so I haven't really gotten a lot accomplished but I'll try to get the thread caught up.

Stripped the rear brake parts down and sent them to a member of another forum in need of parts. I'm going rear disc so they won't be needed in my build.

Took the carrier out of the diff, 3.73 gear set that I got out of a junkyard and setup over 20 years ago. Looks pretty good still, some pitting from sitting for so many years but the running surfaces look good.

Cut some plugs for filling the holes in the frame rails.

Cutting off all of the factory brackets from the diff.

Taking a break! :D

Starting the test fitting, yes it's going to have to be narrowed but I'll wait until I get wheels before I start that.

Test fitting the watts link, this takes the place of the traditional panhard bar and keeps the rear end centered.

I have some video of it in action but I have to upload them to Youtube. :tmc:
