I've heard the tarp idea a lot from the people I know who store cars during the winter.

Full tank of gas and Sta-bil or Seafoam. I don't see how a cover could hurt. The only other thing I would say is something to keep the mice away.

When we winterize our boat we put it on jack stands, cover it and put seafoam in the tank. We run the gas out of the motor with the tank disconnected. We also throw a couple of dryer sheets in it and plug holes with them too. Heard it keeps mice away and it smeels good come spring. We don't put a tarp under it but the hull was made to be put in water...

I don't do anything different, just keep driving the truck. Might take it through the wash more often to keep the salt off, but that's it. Oh and im not blessed with more than one vehicle.

What about cleaning the exterior/interior?
I'd suggest it (and I do it) just for the fact of leaving something clean and coming back to it clean. To me there's nothing worse than getting a vehicle back after 4 or 5 months and then have to clean it.

Thanks for your input Nick!

I don't think there are any mice in the garage (didn't find any droppings while cleaning), but the previous owner did have mice (I found carpet insulation in the frame when I initially looked at it).

When we store our boat, we run Sta-Bil through it, but my dad leaves less than 10gal in the tank. He says he wants to keep the weight off the haul when its sitting on the trailer.

Winterization here means closing the garage door. It might hit 45 degrees one night! BRRRRR!
That's no-jacket weather here! You can always tell who isn't from the north....they're wearing a parka when it hits 40. :loser:
Some people here do that too. Look like they are in Alaska if it hits 45. I haven't worn a coat in years. It's one of the nice things about living here if ya ask me!

I don't even own a damn coat. I have a few jackets, but no actual coats. Last year we had a few days in a row when it was down to about 13 or 14 degreez. I had to wear my camo hunting coat them few days.

As far as winterization, all I do is make sure that my windshield washer fluid is the kind that doesn't freeze. :dunno:

Crap, I forgot all about that! Should I just use a bunch of it / siphon it out? What kind/brand doesn't freeze until like 10 or 20 below 0?

I use the regualr Rain-X washer fluid, its good to about 0 degrees. It never gets that cold here. They also sell one for a few bucks more thats is rated to -25 degrees. Why they even sell that in stores here is beyond me.

Same here. Light jacket weather is about as cold as it ever gets here. I sure like that!

I'll look into it.
