Nice choice (well, I guess it really wasn't yours to make). FWD V6's are pretty good in the snow (extra weight over the front end too).

Our neighbor had the engine go out on his. They might be an interference engine. Very nice car, but too much to fix. I liked the Intrepid. We have a '97 Stratus with 165k and its just starting to run rough.

Mine is going to be too. And it deserves it. Its been outside for 2yrs and in a garage maybe a dozen times in that period. I've never parked anything other than my motorcycle (which can't be driven in the snow anyways) before so it will be hard not to want to drive it. But it will be 40 minutes and 25mi away.

Since the winters here don't get REAL bad, like Jim said. It won't get below freezing very many days here so I don't have to "winterize" my truck. Here's what I do in the winter

1) Full tank of gas or not? (neither, I drive it everyday)
2) Use Sta-Bil? If so, should it be thoroughly burned through the system? (don't use it)
3) Covers - are they a good or bad idea to use? (no cover)
4) I was told by a friend that I should park my truck on a tarp to keep moisture from being trapped under the truck (and therefor causing the underside to rust just from sitting). Is this a good idea or not? (never heard of that :dunno:)
5) Should the engine be fogged? We fog our boat every year, but that has a carb and no emissions equipment (cats nor O2 sensors). :dunno:
6) Put the vehicle on jack stands / blocks? (Depends on how long you're planning on it sitting, if it's for just a few months i wouldn't worry about it)
7) Leave battery in vehicle or not? (I drive it everyday)
8) Is a battery tender device worth it?

I will say that this past winter it snowed for a good 7 days total and the street department uses sand instead of salt on the roads. On the days i didn't drive my truck i would go and let it run for a while so the block wouldn't freeze up. What are winter's like up there?

I never even realized they made special low temp washer fluid. My wipers get all covered in ice and snow and clog up the sprayer way before the washer fluid freezes. Good news is I should have a winter beater this year, down side is there's still no room for the truck in the garage so it will stay outside and my winter beater doesn't have a working heater.

Well, I said that if I was not going to drive it, it had to be either in a garage or in storage (pay for it).
Kind of defeats the purpose though doesn't it? Having a good heater is like the ONLY requirement for a winter beater.

My goal is more along the lines of keeping the miles off the truck. I am starting another job soon that's about a 60 mile commute each way. My truck will never be a show piece, it is used and abused towing and hauling crap I just want something that does better on fuel so I can save the truck to do it's job.

Plus having a second means of transportation gives me more freedom to mod the truck because I don't have to make sure that I have it back together the next day to drive to work.

Saw a tanker spraying that crap on the roads yesterday. :(
That shit RUINS copper. I know a guy that has a transmission shop and works on county cop cars. He said that it gets into the wiring and eats it from the inside out.
It sticks to a vehicle worse than the salt does. My dad's Neon is white after 5 miles of driving on it.
