HA! Age never has bothered me. I guess one day when I can no longer do the things I enjoy... that might be a pisser. My dad is 74 and still in great shape. I hope I get to follow his lead!

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
If the installer uses the proper urethane compound in a tube to install the glass, it's near impossible to remove. A couple of fingerprints will not compromise the bond (although a clean glass and some gloves should be used). I've been in the car biz for many many years and I've never seen an installer use butyl tape to install a windshield.

These shows always dig up the worst of the worst and then try to convince us it's the norm. That's how they sell commercials.

BULLSHIT

But . . . but . . . but . . . it was on TV. And the INTERNET. That makes it double true.

I'm sure there are some really cheesy installers out there... just like there are some really crappy body shops, repair shops, etc. I'd recommend a known company with a good reputation. We've always used Safelite auto glass for our glass work.

I had the windshield replaced on my Chevy 1500 back in November when the bastards broke it and stole my laptop.
The installer DID wear gloves and he DID ask me not to drive it till the next day.
He also cleaned it with some type of solvent before installing it.
He also cleaned up all the broken glass real well.

He took a long time to do it... but I was satisfied that he did a good job.

When my truck was broken into last year the glass went EVERYWHERE, even in the past 3 weeks I had a piece of glass come through the AC vent.

That was only the driver door glass, I would hate to shatter a windshield of this size.
