I am looking to get my truck tinted but not sure how dark to go. I think that the rear side windows on my '98 are 35% factory and was wondering if anyone has pictures of 35% on all 5 windows so I can see what it looks like. Another option I was thinking about was getting the rear side and back window 20% and the front two 35% but I'm not sure which would look better. Any pitures or suggestions would be appreciated.

On every GM truck I have had since '97, the factory tint was 20%. I would check your factory windows with a light meter to make sure they a really 35%.

Personally, I like 15-20% all the way around. I've been running that on every vehicle we have owned for many years now. Even though legal around here is 35%, cops have never messed with me. Much darker on the front sides and you are probably asking for it though. Here are a few pics of 15% just for reference. We have black interiors on both so that will make it appear a little darker but the direction of the light has an effect as well.

35% will come close to matching factory tint as long as you get a non reflective smoke tint. 3M matches pretty well. You can tint over the rears for a nice blacked out look. I normally tint over the factory tint with 5% and run 20% on the sides. Not legal but I've never been hassled.

The guy who tinted my Suburban said my factory tint was 20% on all the back side windows, the rear hatch, and the two rear doors. I had him tint my two front doors in 20% to match and it matches flawlessly. He used Johnson window film. I had my wife's car done in 20% highly reflective privacy tint. Can't remember the name, I think he said it was Llumar.

My Suburban with factory tint on all the rear and 20% Johnson film on the two front doors.

A good rule of thumb if you want to match is to generally go a bit lower (5% or so) on the front sides than on the factory rear sides. The windshield lets in much more light than the rear, making the front sides appear lighter than the rear sides even if the % matches up.

As an example, our Ford rear side tint is 18% from factory. 15% on the front sides matches up perfectly in almost all lighting conditions.

I have 20% on my two side windows and brow and have 20% over my 20% factory on my rear. I have only gotten a ticket once.... and I shouldn't have been where I was so it was my fault.
