Holy shiite Bernie.

Imagine the trouble you can cause with that.
As I put the question to the wife... Which is cheaper, renting the lift for the weekend or the deductible on our insurance if I fall off the ladder while putting up our Christmas lights?
The lights have been a PITA to put up the past couple of years because of my bad knee. This makes the whole job a lot easier and safer for me, and the cost was pretty reasonable. Just $195 for the weekend, plus taxes.
The way I see it, that's less than our insurance deductible, and about what we save on our electric bill by using LED Christmas lights, so it's a "WIN" no matter how you look at it.
Oh, it did require changing the hitch on my truck though, but that's something I had been planning to do anyway. The truck came with an 8 ton pintle hook / 2-5/16 ball combo mount, and our trailer has a 2" ball mount, and most everything I've tried to tow with this, including this lift, only went up to a 2" ball, so it needed changing anyway.
I was going to just swap the ball, but the hook used a ball with two flats on the sides of the base (keeps it from turning) and those suckers are hard to find. While I was at Sunbelt today they swore they had one that would fit, but when they checked they found out it wouldn't, so I just bought a whole complete new hook setup with a 2" ball installed. Cost me $75 but I think it was worth it. The new hook is also rated at 8 tons, and the ball is rated at 6 tons. Now I'll either hang on to the old one, just in case I need that 2-5/16 one day, or clean it up and sell it used on eBay for $50 and get some of the money back.
