I'm in the same boat re: the stock system in my truck. It's damn good as it stands. Definitely not worth the scratch to upgrade.

I'm not sure where the sub is in the new ones, but i'm pretty certain it's not in the center console. when I first got my '14 half ton, I automatically started look at stereo stuff and found that JL couldn't put their stealth box in the center due to space limitations. They started building them as a unit under the back seat and....f*ck that. That gave me the time to listen to the stereo for a while and realize that i didn't really need to upgrade the sound. The interface blows for sure, but they got the sound down :)
I am going to do some research. I am almost certain that the sub, at least one, is in my driver's door.

Here is what I found. Michael, check out the impedance ranges:
Front Dash: 2.5" @ 3.2ohms

Front Door: 6x9" woofer @ 2ohms

Back Door: 5.25" speaker @ 3.5ohms

Subwoofer: 5.25" @ 1ohm

Apparently, the sub is still in the console, and the wind I am feeling on my leg at full volume is just the 6x9 full range speak, breathing on me

Fixed the infamous broken orange tow/haul mode wire in the steering column. Good old YouTube saved the day.

When I went and picked up our new 8.5 x 20 enclosed trailer the other day I tried to use the tow/haul mode and it didn't work. Now it does. :)

I was noticing that in the Camaro, on my way back home the other day. The more I cranked it, the more I could feel my pants move.

That range... Geez.

So, the 3 stereo geeks I have talked to over the last 10 years have told me that no multi channel amps work well because of it. Unless things have changed, even digital amps are looking for the same resistance on the channels. It can be done, but not "cleanly" The guy in Oregon that did my '09 had just done a Tahoe, and the amp ran hot, and had distortion with the stock speaks and Alpine 4 channel.

The sub will run fine with a mono amp, but it is a fairly low power sub.

Anyhow. We are old, they sound better now, and it will only get worse as time goes on :jester:

Even on GMT, everybody agrees that they sound better, just have clunky HUs

A lot of the LML folks are upgrading to Eonon, I think it is... Android based head unit.

Completed the "no more payments" mod. :willy:

Well done!

I need to figure out what I am going to do for a commuter rig, soon. I am keeping my truck forever. I swear, this time :D2

I so wish I had not sold the Tahoe! My new commute is going to be around 45 miles, one way. I do not wish to wear my truck out. I need to find a used SUV to burn out

I told my best friend last week that I was paying off the Silverado this week. I'm meeting up with him later. I'm planning to drive the loaner, JUST so I can see the look on his face, "Didn't you just get rid of the payment...???" :rollin:

I hear ya on not wanting to wear the truck out on the commute. I wish I could find a good "commuter" vehicle that got good mileage that I actually LIKED. Every time I have tried that, I've ended up hating them, in short order.

Good luck!
