The U.S. automakers are making an average of $39.00 an hour for all pay and benefits, the foreign ones are averaging $35.00 an hour for pay and benefits. Figure that they work 40 a week, 52 weeks a year and that brings the total to just over $81k a year. Slightly less than the over $100k entitlement.
I'd like to see some facts to back that up. That is a LOT less than I've seen in print for UAW union worker pay.
I assure you that there is a lot more difference between the union and non union shops.
“The United Autoworkers Union has worked hard to create high paying jobs for their members. According to the Indianapolis Star, base wages average about $28 an hour. The average reaches $39.68 an hour, including base pay, cost-of-living adjustments, night-shift premiums, overtime, holiday and vacation pay. Health-care, pension and other benefits average another $33.58 an hour, bringing the total compensation to $61.58 to $73.26 per hour. That's worse.
+1
That's alot more than staff make at this university with either a bachelors or master degree...
but you could still do the exercise and compare the percentage difference. The point is that make and take home are 2 different numbers and take home is much less than we really realize.
