I wanna make sure the clutch plates are soaked before I start it so I am going to overfill the oil and let it set for a couple days. While thats setting I will put some seafoam down the cylinders to remove the moisture. Doe's anyone know If Marvel Mystery oil will affect clutchs if I put some in the clinders to lubricate on start up?

You will likley be doing frictions soon, anyway. I wouldn't worry about those disks if you are wanting to soak the cylinders.

I first rode a 440 LTD. WOT up a hill and I was barely holding my speed. :(

That 1000 should be pretty snappy. :)

The previous owner put a performance clutch in it that have less than 1K miles on them. I am trying to keep the intact.

So today I went out and got started. The chokes are seized so I started to soak them in penetrating oil. The started to move a little so over the next few days I'm sure they will free up. I over filled the oil. I have the clutch held open with a zip tie to let the oil soak in between the plates. I put the bike in gear and spun the rear tire by hand. I think the clutch will be alright.

Today I troubleshot the coils. i tested the resistance across the primarys. It was 2.7ohms which is right in spec. I tested the secondaries and the were both open telling me that they are both junk. It is supposed to be around 11K ohms.

I have a question for you gasser people (not you :brain:). The chances of both coils failing at once is not very good. Would a problem in the igniter cause the coils to run until they burnt up? I am considering just putting an igniter on with the coils but they are not cheap. On the other hand niether is buying another set of coils. Any suggestions?:dunno:
