I've had a lot of new trucks over the years. All have been Chevy or GMC except for one Mazda X Cab, One Frontier 4x4 Xcab and one Nissan Titan. The other dozen or more have been GM.

Cars now are another thing altogether. We've had dozens of different brand names - literally. There aren't too many modern brand names of vehicles we have not had in the driveway at one time or another. Not all of those were new though.

One thing that made me more strongly considered GMC over Ford or Dodge was the history my dad and grandfather had with GM trucks.. Another thing that made me look at them more seriously was the warranty. I knew if something went wrong with it, GM had the confidence in it to stand behind it. The lower warranties on the other vehicles left me wondering how much their makers "believed" in their products.. :dunno:

well...heres my logic.....i have owned 3 chevy blazers, 2 chevy trucks, 5 chevy cars, a dodge truck and a plymouth and an olds or 3... i have owned 2 different ford rangers, and i will admit, the nite is my first ever f150...now...my grandpa has owned nothing but ford trucks till the day he died, and i learned how to drive in them, the blazer in my opinion is a really good vehicle!! and you cant beat an olds for reliability and comfort, i still dont like a dodge cause i am still going out and rescuing my uncle who has 2 of them. my plymouth was a 76 with the 360, it was a grand fury, awsome!! the ford rangers were the toughest little bastards i ever saw, as far as loyalty i abuse the hell outta my trucks, as you've seen in my vids, i have owned more chevys than fords, becuase the chevy's coulndt take as much abuse as the fords could, the nite is the first f150 i have personally ever owned and i thinks i got lucky getting that truck. my loyalty lies with ford for the reasons of the abuse and the neglect they can handle on a regular basis, but like my granddad said they will all last if you take care of them, but i dont take asw good care of it as i should, but thats ok cause it can handle it, so,, there ya go.

I've always driven :chevy: trucks. I did have a Ford once, for about 6 months.

My father is to blame for this one... be raised as a dale earnhardt fan and being a bowtie guy. My first car was a 72 Nova SS.. and its on from there... I own 2 chevy's now.. and I love them. I really like the fords and dodges... but I just always seem to buy a chevy or GM product.

Every time I see one of the new Dodge trucks with some lift and a good set of meaty tires, I want to go to Dodge and make a deal. I don't think there has been another truck in recent years that looked so damn good with bigger tires and a mild lift.

I am not loyal to ANY brand. When i was truck shopping I was looking at all of them. Ford got written off pretty quick because the 1/2-ton drivetrain was below what GM, Toyota and Dodge were putting out (I was only going with the 6.2L GM, not even considering a 5.3L)

That Dodge was right up there tied with the GMC Sierra for the best looking truck. The only reason I didn't give the Dodge a better chance to come home with me was because it was the first year for that body style... i like to let the kinks get worked out first.

So i ended up with the GMC....

BUT, to respond to your question.... i think we get "comfortable" with a specific brand. For instance if you own brand X truck.. you probably know every suspension/drivetrain/add-on/etc available. Whereas when you go to consider brand Y truck, you're starting from square one. So there's a bit of a hurdle to get over there if you're not familiar with the ins and outs of every manufacturer.

Agreed. I think there's also a certain amount of "well, I bought that last time and it didn't give me any trouble and the dealer treated me well when I was there... I'll just go buy another one of 'that' brand again.."
