I had to replace my 2 year old battery last winter. It was dark, snowing and -5°F

I wanted to go with an Optima but couldnt' find one locally. So I ended up just going to Napa and getting one of theirs.

I believe that's the one I got. Not quite the CCA as some others out there, but it seems good. Started the truck after it sat for 3.5 days in the sub zero weather. Can't be all that bad. :dunno:

How much was that battery at your local NAPA?

STAY AWAY FROM NAPA BATTERIES!!! don`t get me started. My bro bought an optima and had also poor results, and Have seen poor results with interstate batteries and energizer in the past, Delcos have been good to me. Always get the highest CCA that will fit and you`ll be much happier.

I don't know what to think about Optima batteries and I am not out to bash them, but I have a friend in the auto electrical business and there are times that he has a stack of 15 or 20 dead ones that he has replaced under Optima warranty. He sells them because people want them but says he would not put on in his vehicle for any reason. I know they have a pretty loyal following.

I have read and talked to a few that have an Odyssey Battery and love them. Last a long time and take a beating.

My next battery will be one. I have the Optima Red top and if I don't drive my truck for two weeks it goes down enough that it will not start. Not pleased with Optima at all.

yeah.. this is my 3rd optima.. only 2nd in my truck.. and they have been outstanding to me.... soo.. i dunno!

if you want a serious light weight battery... go with a powermaster battery.. but they are BIG bucks.

It seems that if you get a good one... it's great.

Funny thing is... I see loads of red and yellow tops in all of the drag cars here. Hell, it's hard to find one that doesn't have an Optima.

I dunno about Optima. Like I said before, everyone I know personally that had one had to get it swapped out at 2 years or less. My yellow top crapped out at exactly one year and they wouldn't warranty it, the guy told me the yellow tops only have a one year replacement warranty, and they only wanted to give me like 20 bucks or so towards a new one with the pro-rating crap. But then again, I've heard people left and right swear they are the best batteries ever. :dunno:
