How does buying another vehicle save money on gas?

Now you have registration and insurance on two vehicles instead of one and payments on atleast one. Doesnt take a rocket scientist to see youre not saving anything

It worked out good for me cause my dodge was paid for and i paid cash for the s10. If I would have wanted to keep the dodge I could have and still come out ahead because the gas I am saving

This has got to be the most helpful comment ever! I sincerely appreciate it.

As for the others, great comments, some things I haven't thought about before.

You betcha
Yeah I have heard they are pretty bad in the gas mileage department and their transmissions are a very weak link.

+1 their transmissions are made of balsa wood. :(

If you really want to go this route I would suggest a 98-02 gtp!

It actually does make a pretty good point.

My daily driver is written off as a company car. I like having something that doesn't require me to rack up huge miles on my truck too. It makes sense to me... but it's not technically a money saver.

Did I say money was a problem? No. Did I say I need fuel mileage of a hybrid? No. Did I say I wanted something with better mileage? Yes. Did I say I was looking for a daily driver? Yes. I am not wanting to rack up all the miles on my truck, so I was thinking of a different daily driver, therefore asked for opinions between the 2 different cars.

I work from home from my "virtual office", therefore everything I do for my job is a tax write-off: gas, maintenance, meals, hotel, office furniture, office supplies, etc, etc.

I have the 08 impala ss.

1. Huge ass trunk. You can easily fit 4 full grown men in there, plus your golf clubs.
2. The four doors comes in really handy, especially since the rear seats fold down and give you access to the trunk.
3. Its a freaking blast to drive. The 5.3 has plenty of pickup and power. Passing on the highway at speed is addicting. 70 to 100 before you get past the car you are passing.
4. IF you drive 70-75, you could probably expect 25-30 mpg highway. On one trip across Texas, we got right at 500 miles on 14 gallons. It was nice.
5. 4 years after we bought it, it kbbs for $5000 less than we paid for it ( bought used). A dealer offered us that on a trade in back in December. I think that is pretty good.
