Base model has 160 mile range. More than enough for regular day-to-day drivers.

Tesla has a lot of cool ideas, but the company has serious financial woes. I don't think I'd buy from them.

Even using their numbers here, you would have to drive this car 20 years to make up the difference between it and a standard $20k commuter car in fuel savings..........I know they are not trying to compete with $20k commuter cars feature/content wise, but from an economics standpoint, it just doesn't make much sense.

To be fair though, you need to compare a comparably equipped car. I don't know, I've never been in one, but I'd guess this Tesla is a little nicer than a Cruze or Focus.

You could easily spend $50k+ on a gas burning sedan.

I was just thinking the same thing. I'm sure maintenance and repairs won't be cheap either.
