Well it's not your average trolling motor or Johnson Outboard. We are in the middle of doing our 10,000 hour inspections of our Port Main Engine. Pulling heads, Pistons and Con Rod Bearings for inspection. This is a 9,000 HP inline 9 cylinder diesel engine specifically a MAN 52/55A.
We are pulling 8 of our 9 cylinders down for inspection, all heads are going out to be rebuilt and any other items that don't cut the mustard are getting replaced. Had 2 of the 4 pistons that we have pulled fail today. Well they didn't fail but they aren't worth putting back in, so they will go to scrap.
Some of us are mechanics by trade and will probably enjoy the pics, the rest of you can chime in and ask questions if you want.
Connecting Rod Bolts with my size 11EE shoe.
4 Con Rod bearings pulled and laying on the deck.
Con Rod after it was separated from a piston.
NFG Skirt
New Piston and Con Rod Assembly ready for install.
There is still a ton of work to be done so more pics will trickle in here for your viewing pleasure.
