Damn that looks good

The old timer got bored sometime last week and sand blasted the under body and rear axle. Also blasted the spare tire bay and I guess it ate right thru it  I was between a .50 and Mk19 range when he called and couldn't hear well, but that's what I made out of it. I'll just weld in something and make it nice, that's where I was planning to mount the fuel cell. We will probably do some stuff this weekend, I'll get pics 4reals.

Been toying with the idea of going turbo, CJ contain your orgasms.

Pretty sure my Grandpa has a Powerglide laying around which = free. My AJE cross member is made for TH350's and Glides. Glides hold a lot of power, and it will probably only need a refresh. If he doesn't have it anymore I can buy one for nothing. I can spend the money that would go to headers ($650+ for stainless Kooks) and get a Borg Warner S475 or an MP70 or 76. If it was turbo a nice $800+ converter wouldn't be mandatory so I could go with a regular converter. I've seen intercoolers rob lots of power plenty of times at the dyno, I could save money and make more power by not using one. N20 is a great intercooler + meth kit. Meth itself is cheap. This would save a lot on cold side fabricating. Turbos act like mufflers, so exhaust wouldn't be a big issue, just run a down pipe and end it somewhere under the car, if it's too loud put a Magnaflow on it. Instead of getting a $700 cam kit from TSP I could get a $50 LS6 cam, which is great for turbos, $50 LS6 springs and $100 rods.

Some of the added costs off hand would be the big ass fuel injectors/system, and the turbo kit necessities like BOV + wastegate.

I've almost talked myself into this. If anything building a ground up turbo kit will be a learning experience. :D

Alrighy, now that I have cleaned up, go check out the thread about the 79 zephyr. he is using MAGNUM turbo's which are the upgrade now to the Old MP turbos. I think one of those would fit your project very well.
Second, have you thought about maybe running it on corn? That could decrease the need for an intercooler and maybe run some meth pre-turbo. Just a thought. You can get an Ebay intercooler for next to nothing and they work. I'd definitely go LS6 cam and try to find some 317 heads. you should be able to pick up a set for around $100. :wookie:

I saw the Zephyr thread lol. It's sick. The Borg Warner S475's are good for a lot of power

http://www.forcedinductions.com/productsborgwarner.htm

Scroll down to the S400x performance units. With N20 I could probably get by with an MP70, but if I can get a new S475 for those prices I'd rather go that route. Even if it's too big, N20 will get it spooled.

For living in the Mid West there is a big shortage of E85 stations around here. I'll have to look them up. I'd love to run E85.
