Good luck with it Matt, I can't wait to see how it all turns out. Should be pretty damn cool.

Thanks J-rod. - If this doesn't look damn good, I don't know what I'm going to do :willy::crybaby:.

Tonight I only got my parts sanded with 150. I have 220 and 400 yet to do :fingersx:.

Still no update on the USPS tracking (which has always been worthless) for my switches :(.

Lets hope it holds up. I am interested to see how well they turn out also.

I'm most worried about the air vents. They are the only moving parts I'm doing. I'll probably do extra coats on them. Other than those, the inside handle trim rings and (eventually) the window switch panel will be the most touched parts.

I'm happy with how the trim rings turned out. I didn't sand after paint, but they are actually very smooth. I think I'm just going to to all the other parts the same way.

OK, the other parts are now sanded to 220. I'll do 400 tomorrow night.

I have a slight problem :uhoh: :(.
When I took apart one of the passenger vents, a small crack formed (that you couldn't even see). No big deal.
However, while holding it sanding, a piece broke out where it was cracked. I have the piece.
Is there a way to glue it back in place or should I just fill the area with glue and sand it into shape (when I say glue I mean epoxy)? Is there something easy to find that paint will stick to?

Thanks.

P.S. - still not package containing my switches SO the painting is still on hold

BUMP - anybody have any ideas on my problem above? I really need to figure this out before painting.

New news, my switches came!!!! Here's a link to them (my pics aren't turning out).

Any suggestions on what to use to cut the rectangles out for the switches? I was thinking Dremel tool or some kind of a hand saw.

Once I get the holes cut, I'll start painting. Hopefully that will be Sunday, if not Monday.

Can you super glue it back together? Then sand the glue a bit and the paint should stick to it.

Will the paint stick to the Super Glue (that is my biggest concern)? I guess I could try to glue the piece back in. I mean, what do I have to loose! If that doesn't work, could I just put Super Glue in the area and shape it by sanding?

I now have all the parts sanded to 400. I just need to wipe them off with rubbing alcohol before paint. Well, and the broken piece.

I realize this image is HUGE, but what do you guys think about posting a WTB ad on CraigsList for these? - Any tips or things to change are very much welcome.
