Alright gentlemen here is the deal on 0449 code. It costs $80 to fix the problem and you can change the part yourself and disconnect the terminal on the battery to clear the code when you are done. The part number is 25932571, they'll tell you its a part for a Suburban (bull). It's the same exact part on your truck and it costs $28 and the hose costs between $45 and $55. My 2006 Chevy Silverado V8 5.8L is running greaat. I love American trucks.

scam

Listen up people. This new solenoid is a money making scam. I did my research thanks to you kind people and I got the exact same solenoid that came on the truck. call your GM dealer and ask for part # 25932571. At first I bought the new method of cutting and pasting hoses etc. then I saw how much work it was and i researched how to install and wound up on this site. Then i found out on another site this part # and sure enough...exactly the same as original and guess what...only $24 plus tax.

Son's "new" truck popped a P0446, we are using the article you posted Jarrod, and go for the new vent solenoid kit. Going to yank the bed off and do a fuel pump, too. Good time to do all of that and throw on the Belltech drop shackles, too!

You will not even have to take the bed off if you use that part number. but you will need to get about 2 feet of 1/2" heater hose and 2 clamps to replace the hose. It took me a whopping 15 minutes tops to replace it and no light so far. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I have been a little too busy to actually verify this info, but I'm pretty certain that it is good info. Give it a shot and let us know how it turns out.
