P0449-How To Replace Evap. Vent Solenoid

I have had this issue with several GM pickups, it is much worse if you drive dusty dirt roads often. It is nice to have clear instructions like this, the first one I had issues with (work truck) was repaired at the dealership, then I figured out what they did and fixed my personal one on my own. Haven't had any issues with my F350 or Ram yet! Hopefully it stays that way.......

I have the P449 code on my 2003 Silverado. I knew it would help me flunk inspection,lol. I guess it is time to get it done. My question is about the quote I got for the part from a local dealer. $194 and change. From the original post price of $78 it knocked the wind out of me.

Can this be right or am I being scammed by the dealer?

The dealers are always going to try and get more money out of you. Look into getting the parts from gmpartsdirect.com and see how much they are. Should be much cheaper.

The kit # is P/N 19152345 to be sure, correct?

AC Delco Part Number 214-2082 does not show for a 2003

I entered the kit# in search only to be told the part does not exist...

I see the oem# is 19152349 instead of 19152345, but the same thing? I pray...

This one showed up in GMdirect, but has yet another new number if this is the same

Should be about the same thing, I have read of a few different part number but all ended up being the same part. GM's way of confusing us into letting the dealership fix it.

Yes, I hear you. Even the code reference in the fix is different than the code in the truck, but the same fix. This leads me to believe they thrive on BS-ing their way. Worked for a bailout, no?
