I found a few videos poking around on Youtube when I was trying to fix my problem.

I clicked on the link for the video and it gives me an error. Is it posted anywhere else on the web?

Tim

If you're talking about the link in the OP, it works fine for me

I posted in here previously regarding my 2000 Silverado Z71 5.3L with P0449. I'm not wanting to lift the bed nor drop the tank. I am wondering if with this Part: ACDELCO 214-2081 Updated Canister Solenoid Valve Kit, I can simply Cut the Wire & Hose Leading to the Existing Assembly, and then install this Kit (splicing a Connector onto the cut wires)?
Can it be that simple?

New here. From reading thru the forum I see where the two port is the newer part and people are reverting back to the one port. I have a 2008 that has the updated 2 port on it and was given the one port from Riley's when we asked for the part. If you revert back to the one port what do you do with the other hose? I'm sorry that might be a stupid question but so confused on how to put the one port on when our truck has the two port already on it. Thanks.

The 2nd hose just goes to a remote mounted filter, you can either just let it dangle or pull it all out.

po449 code

I have a 2006 silverado 5.3 with 139,500 miles and has po449 code . the exact definition / evaporative emiss control sys. vent valve/solenoid circuit malfunction .
So i did my homework so i could understand how the evap system works and that helped me decide to fix it myself . I looked under the truck to locate vent valve and it looks like it has already been updated once or replaced . I bought the truck in late 2008 and it had 51,000 miles on it . I'am going to take the part off and apply 12 volts to it and listen for a click . If it doe's click then i will look at the purge valve , but based on what i've read on this and other sites i feel confident that the problem is with the vent valve solenoid .

That should work, my vent solenoid would clearly click with12V on it, don't recall if I tried it with the Purge valve.

If you read enough of the thread, you may have seen- my issue was a broken wire to the purge valve up near the engine. I had to take it to a shop, as I could not figure out how to force the computer to send 12V to the solenoids on my own. With all the probing I did, I never saw anything at either of the connectors.

Good luck, and Welcome to the forum.

po449 code

HEY DARTBOY , THANKS FOR THE REPLY . THATS THE PROBLEM I HAVE THAT I DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO A SCANNER SO I WOULD BE ABLE TO COMMAND THE VENT VALVE AND THE PURGE VALVE OPEN AN CLOSED , WOULD BE ALOT EASIER TO ISOLATE THE PROBLEM . MY REPAIR SHOP WANTED TO DO A SMOKE TEST , BUT WITH A CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION I'AM NOT CONVINCED THAT IS NECESSARY .
I WILL DO THE TEST ON THE VENT VALVE LATER THIS WEEK ( BETTER WEATHER ) THEN BE PREPARED TO TEST THE PURGE VALVE . AFTER SOME MORE DEEP THOUGHT ON THE ISSUE I BELEIVE IT COULD BE EITHER PART . HOPE THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE PCM . I'LL BE UP THE CREEK IF IT IS ....MONEY IS TIGHT !

2006 silverado / po449 code repair

update on po449 code repair.
my evap vent solenoid was a ac delco#214-2082 , gm# 19207763 . to test the old one i backed the truck onto ramps , unplugged the evap solenoid , turned the keyswitch to run position ( engine off ) , had my 12 volt test light ready , then probed red wire side of connector . found no voltage ( thought ha) there's the problem .
i removed the evap solenoid assembly and used an ohm meter for testing and found 0 ohms . the new evap soleniod had a reading of approx 21 ohms . then i connected twelve volts to the solenoid and didn't hear or feel a click . there was a small amount of dust that came out of the filter port side of the cannister . after re-assembly , i had my local auto parts read the codes again and the p0449 code was not there .
i did have my repair shop replace the knock sensors to take care of the p0332? code. they found no additional problems with the evap system .
truck runs great ! no cel for the first time in a while .
thanks truck mod central for the info i found here.
