Anytime the government gets involved, you can count on it being silly and over-regulated to the gills. They have to justify their bloated office staff salaries.

I'm all for safety, but the shit they want me to comply with working on a scaffold would not fly in my book. Even the expense to comply with their regulations is unheard of. The fines they issue are complete bullshit. How in the **** can they justify some of their figures. Like the :zembonez: said, **** osha.

This is nothing new and those are not the reasons why. I have been dealing with making my shops compliant for years. Any violation is typically met with a compliance date. Don't let this teacher point out that the sky is falling.

Well over here on east coast from New York to Delaware, etc 10 techs get killed every 6 months cause of improper use of a car lift. More than that on accidents in the shop too.

I call :bs: on that statement.
Before I would believe that, I will need to see some statistics or newspaper articles or SOMETHING....

I don't remember, right offhand of "EVER" hearing of someone getting killed by a car lift accident.

It probably happens... but in my opinion... it would be a very rare occurrence...

Total bullshit Dave.

I've been in the auto biz for over 30 years here and I've never heard of anybody being killed under a lift. I've heard of very few lift failures.

My FIL had his back broken by one that failed. But it was owned and operated by a rental car company that focused more on profit than safety.

Its the truth. Thats what he was told at his class. The guy who did the class does the investigations for accidents too.

Dave, ask him for some documentation on these facts next time you have class.
