OSHA Doing Safety Checks at Auto Repair Shops

I'm all for safety, but the shit they want me to comply with working on a scaffold would not fly in my book. Even the expense to comply with their regulations is unheard of. The fines they issue are complete bullshit. How in the **** can they justify some of their figures. Like the said, **** osha.

This is nothing new and those are not the reasons why. I have been dealing with making my shops compliant for years. Any violation is typically met with a compliance date. Don't let this teacher point out that the sky is falling.

Well over here on east coast from New York to Delaware, etc 10 techs get killed every 6 months cause of improper use of a car lift. More than that on accidents in the shop too.

Before I would believe that, I will need to see some statistics or newspaper articles or SOMETHING....

I don't remember, right offhand of "EVER" hearing of someone getting killed by a car lift accident.

It probably happens... but in my opinion... it would be a very rare occurrence...

I've been in the auto biz for over 30 years here and I've never heard of anybody being killed under a lift. I've heard of very few lift failures.

My FIL had his back broken by one that failed. But it was owned and operated by a rental car company that focused more on profit than safety.
