The kit is intended for motors below 4 hp but only because the shaft coupler is milled to a 5/8 ID. Aside from that the kit is exactly the same all the way up to the 13 HP range where the flange patter changes from 4 bolts to 5.

There really is no power limitation, only fitting incompatibilities.

Got back from the lake today and HOLY COW that engine is strong. I was able to get up to 12-13 mph cruising speed. The only reason I couldn't go faster is because the boat was putting up more resistance than the water was and the prop was cavitating really bad.

With the 5.5" prop it ran very smooth and topped out at 12 mph. The 6" prop had significantly better acceleration but was splashing so much it wouldn't beat 13 mph. It also had a little bit heavier load and vibrated a little bit more than the smaller props. The engine was not overloaded. It worked a little more with the larger prop but not like the little engine did.

My trimmed 5.25" prop was pretty much useless. I tried going through what appeared to be mud and it ended up being years of sticks and leaves drifting into the creek and settling. The only thing that happened was me getting stuck in about 2-3 feet of nasty, rotting sticks and vegetation. The skeg below the prop kept tangling up and keeping the boat from being pushed forward. The deep keel on the canoe didn't help either. I'm sure a jon boat would have passed right over it no problem though.

Unfortunately I didn't get too much run time today because of all the wake boats making the water extremely rough. Every time I had a smooth place with good water to run I would crash into a wake. One time the boat got completely airborne and the motor literally came off of the stern and landed between the middle and rear bench seat. It was an OH $#!+ moment for sure.

I was able to get a little bit of unimpressive video that is STILL loading after 30 minutes.

I didn't get any pictures or videos today but me and my brother went out to Lake Austin again. We caught a bunch of sunfish and even saw the leftovers of a very large stripped bass and catfish.

The boat was loaded heavy with me, him, stuffed ice chest, tool bag, and more fishing gear than we would ever need for a day trip but it still ran great. I couldn't break 11 mph with the 5.5 inch prop but the 6 inch had me up to max speed with power to spare. Looks like the engine is breaking in nicely and a larger prop will be on order soon.

I need to make a better motor bracket because it decided to hop off the back of the canoe again and sit in my seat. Wrestling with it isn't the problem, it is remounting because it takes nearly an hour for the engine to cool off.

Made some throttle adjustments and now it scoots a little faster. I didn't have my GPS going but I could feel that it was faster than the previous top speed.

The river had a bunch of trash floating in it from the recent rains so I didn't get much nice video.
