I guess I should have made this thread a while back.. This happened right after Thanksgiving.

I hadn't noticed any problems with the brakes (no squealing/screeching/etc) prior to Thanksgiving. I knew that I was going to have to replace pads soon.

Should have been keeping a closer eye on them.

But that week my brother was in town from CA so I let him borrow it to drive up north to see family. I had no issues with that nor did I suspect anything would go wrong.

Well he was supposed to drive back the Sunday after Thanksgiving to drop the truck off so I could take him to the Airport. But he called me that day and said the truck was having issues.

If he put the truck in reverse the front tire would just drag and not spin. And of course at this point I'm 80 miles away so can't do much about looking at it.

Luckily my Step-Dad is fairly mechanically smart. He took at a look at it and told me the front Rotor/pad/caliper was shot. The Pad had melted to the rotor which then caused a lot of stress on the caliper and took chunks out of it.

He said the other Driver front needed changed out as well.. Rotor was dinged up from the pad being worn as well...

So i figured I would go ahead and spend the money and upgrade both the front and rear.

Ended up going with a set of PowerStop Performance Brake Kit.

Z16 Evolution Ceramic Brake Pads
Cross-Drilled and Slotted Brake Rotors

Got them for about $375 for both front and rear after shipping. Had them sent to my Mom's house and my step-dad changed them out for me. He said it was a pain in the ass to get the rear brakes done. Had to use a special tool to get the hub off since it was rusted on there.

Of course I have no pictures of the install or of them on the truck

But they have been on 2 weeks now, with only a 200-300 miles on them but so far I love them. Work really good, and I think the price wasn't to bad!

And they also come with a 3-Year/36,000 Mile Limited Power Stop Warranty.. So that's good to know!

Damn... you waited almost too long there!

Sounds like you got it fixed up better than ever though.

Yeah

I figured I still had some time on the pads. I'm not even sure I had 35-40k on them.

I figured I had till the summer to change them out, but I guess I should have stop procrastinating and just changed them before hand.

I'm not sure what made it go from no squealing/sreeching and reverse working fine.. to the mess that it was... but It's fixed now I guess.

Yeah, I think I only had 35k on those pads. And planned on changing the pads/rotors next summer after its all paid off... but I guess the truck had other thoughts

Glad to hear it brakes better. I used Powerslot slotted ( non cryo treated ) rotors and Hawk LTS semi-metallic pads, and Motorcraft calipers. Almost $600 in my brakes. So you got a very good deal on your parts!
