So far, it seems like all this new "stages" crap has done is give the talking-idiots in the booth more opportunity to talk about where people are running / who's in the top 10, even though they're only halfway through a stage... at a restrictor plate track... knowing damn well that at least one more pit stop is going to happen before the end of that "stage."

Still not a fan. Seems like they threw a red flag just so they wouldn't end the segment under caution. I stepped away from the TV after the Busch wreck, came back to a red flag and thought I missed a crash. Didn't seem like that incident warranted one.

Yeah, I bet red flags get used a lot more to supposedly "maintain (some sort of) integrity for the segment scoring."

I watched it with about 10 laps left in the second stage...what a clusterfuck.

Daytona 500 results-

Kevin Harvick finished in 22nd place, 3 laps down and scored more points than A.J. Allmendinger who finished 3rd

Brad Keselowski DNF'd in 27th place scored one less point than Trevor Bayne who came in 10th and one more point than Kasey Kahne who came in 7th

 anybody want to go golfing next Sunday? I'm looking for something to do in the afternoons now.

I figured you were going to get jazzed-up about this new scoring stuff and want to do your own calculations and tracking for NASCAR Picks this year??? :jester:

I looked at some of that scoring earlier, too. Crazy stuff. I bet it won't take too many races until somepone who finish top 20 scores more points than the winner of the race did.

No math needed :D I just compared the finishing order to the points standings. You'd think they'd match up fairly closely after one race.

I can accept a couple bonus points moving someone up a spot, but to not even finish and outscore a top-10 car is ridiculous.

Of course, now NASCAR is going to need "debris cautions" before the segment ends to bunch the cars up enough to make it interesting.
