I have always used a PC. Last year I sold my original 06 model for a new 7424XP. A little bit tougher motor as they promised, and a fine tool, but the weight factor does teach you to use caution when handling, not by losing grip, but in-case you lighten your strength while bringing it away or toward paint. It would suck to drop it on unprotected clear coat, all 6.5lbs of it.
I like the use of small 3" - 4" pads it can also run along with the available counterweight, makes bumpers, rockers, sail panels, all small panels, much better to work with. I personally would never use more than a 6" pad on paint. Dedicate a little more time to assure you fully detail the panel you are working with. The most weight is in the center, sort of like a BBQ.
PC7424XP and Adams polishes work fantastic together.
