Got the key situation corrected. A locksmith had to come out and cut new ignition AND door keys. All is well and the car starts and runs. Well... sort of..

The car runs rough and has a check engine light. I will have to borrow an OBD 1 scanner from a friend of mine. But that is not the biggest issue. The driver door would not open. After a lot of guessing and cussing, I was able to get the door panel off and access the internals. The problem "appears" to be the door latch. I think there is suppose to be a return spring somewhere because there is no tension on the door handles. So, that is where I am now. The deadline is drawing near and I have very little time to spend on this car. But, every step is a step closer.

She better bake me some cookies or something.

I remember my brother had a 1990 Sedan DeVille. It didn't have VATS though. :dunno:
I'm not sure if that was an option or not, or exactly what year they started if it WAS standard. But I do remember that he had a similar problem with his ignition switch, it would start to stick sometimes so he had it replaced. I'm betting that on a car that old, it's NOT the original ignition switch so that's why the dealership key isn't working. So that means you have two choices at this point. Either replace the ignition switch with a new one, or else have a locksmith replace it or make a key for it. The guy switch will have to be removed to make a key for it, so it makes sense to just buy a new switch which shouldn't be any more than $30 or so unless it does indeed have VATS on it.
