Check the fuel pressure regulator before you change the fuel pump.

anything i need in particular to check it with? i know the hose going to it is very small i dont know how i can get a reading on it for pressure :dunno:

pull the vacuum hose...look at it and see if there is "ANY" trace of gas on it.
SMELL it and see if you can smell gas.

If the answer to either question is yes... replace it...

Well i went out and checked the fuel pressure reg. and i couldn't smell any gas. but i'm pretty sure its the fuel pump i just dont understand how it will start up everytime and then just die right away if it's the fuel pump. :dunno:

It can probably build the pressure cranking until it starts, then cannot provide the volume to keep it going. :dunno:

some GM vehicles have two separate circuits to power the fuel pump...
One is activated by the ignition switch... the other one by the oil pressure switch.
Check your oil pressure switch fuse, the fuel pump fuses and "ALL" ignition circuit fuses..

I don't know if this applies to FORD or not...but it won't take abut a few minutes to check.
