Also it code 54 is what it flashes. Which when i look it up says fuel pump ciruict (low voltage). Now he is at work so tomarrow when i put the temp sender in ill run a nother code read on it and see if there isn't more but last i knew that was the only one. Do you think it may be the pickup in the distributor? It has 143k on it and the last few years were not kind to it cause it was a field pickup on the farm. Bodys in good shape though. Only a small dent in center front of hood (tow bar) and a small dent in pass door and bed. (Poll in field my step bro didn't see)

Very first thing I would do in your situation is check the fuel pressure. It's kind of a PITA because you have to install a T-fitting between the throttle body and fuel line so you can put a gauge on it. IIRC, you should have around 11-14 psi, and if not...

I know it's going to be a pain, but I would check the ground wire for the pump. I should be some place close to the sending unit on the tank. They have a habit of corroding and losing connection.
If that doesn't fix it, I would bet that the fuel pump is fucked.

I think it has a bad EGR valve so i pluged it to see if that would help and it has not helped.
By that you mean you took it off the intake and plugged the holes on the intake?

Harbor Freight has a cheap timing light for 15 bucks that will get the job done, or check if Auto Zone has one in the lend a Tool program. You won't need any fancy computer stuff for that truck.

Agreed. You're going to want/need one anyways.

To check the timing on the TBI trucks, you need to disconnect the brown wire that's beneath the glovebox before you start the motor, otherwise the computer will keep changing the timing and you'll never get it right. It should be set to top dead center, 0 degrees... although, I did have mine advanced a little before I put a chip from Harris Performance in it.

No the EGR valve i just pluged the hose off the TBI. I put the temp censer and sender in this morning. I hooked the EGR back up i think its ok i pulled it and it looks clean.

Anyway looks like im looking for nothing.:D It was only doing it when it was about out of gas!! He wasnt telling me that. (KIDS) Running fine now but still has check engine light on. Ran the codes and they are .....

43 -- knock censor
53 -- low curciut voltage to fuel pump

So now what do i need to check for the low voltage?
