Alright...

It's not the pinch bolt... Front suspension isn't bad enough for it... Only does it when the steering wheel crosses center...

Hmmm... Is that a tilt column? If so, there are bolts inside the column that frequently work loose.

you know what you should try? pull your starter relay turn your key to the crank position and see if it still makes that noise, kinda sounds like the mechanisim the locks the wheel in position with the key off... just a thought i had....:dunno:

damn thats a problem? My Tahoe does that since I bought it. I thought it was normal.

It's apparently normal for some of the full size trucks... But supposedly wasn't an issue with the S-Series

Didn't help anything...

After paying more attention... There is some play... So I'm thinking the rag joint

It's that, or the worm gear in the steering box :uhoh:

I just had a similar issue in the Caddy... nowhere near as bad as what "YOU" have...but similar, none the less.

With wheel at center position...move it back and forth...it was getting a real small click or thump.
You could "JUST BARELY" feel it or hear it... but it was there. :)

Since it is still under warranty, I took it to the Caddy dealer.
They replaced the steering gear.

Problem solved.

Good luck in finding out EXACTLY what it is.
