Thanks for the kind words folks!

Fun little car! Polish those headlights young man!

The headlights are hopeless imo, they leak and are wet from the inside. I wanna put some stock ones on it.

Good for you! Sounds like you are on the right track financially. :pimp:

Thanks man. I'd like to think I have been there for awhile, just need more income! When I re-financed my truck last spring I had a 730+ score

Neat.

Now the money you save should go to paying off the truck. Then no more note and you will really start banking money. Be frugal, this will break, but if saved right you'll be prepared.

Yes that is the exact plan. Get the truck paid for, and buy some more desired life enhancements such as a flat screen, laminate flooring and some more home TLC, and to build the slush fund more.

I have always had a slush fund for myself though guys. Hopefully you folks don't think I am like a punk kid and buys whatever I want, certainly not. I have emergency money of my own at hand which is why it took so long to get a little car, and why my truck isn't near paid off yet.

Way to go, saving up and paying cash!

Personally, *I* wouldn't have bought a Neon, but.. That was a pretty cheap price. Good luck with it!

Thanks Michael. Yes as I mentioned I was intending an '03/'04 Cavalier LS sport, can't buy a nicer newer economy car at the moment, and I hate Cobalts pretty much.

welcome to the club man, I wish I had the patience that you did when I transferred over. It definitely will pay for itself but like a couple others said make sure you have some cash set aside for small repairs:cheers:

Always do guys!

Nice find man. Took me awhile to find something in that range as well.

Thanks to good ole Nick, I have 5qts of ASL 5w30 full synthetic, and an Ea15k51 oil filter on the way. Monday will be a good oil changing evening. Thanks again! I'm sure this 2.0L 5spd will love/appreciate it!

Welp, my awesome luck has struck again.

Today, after I finally got out of work I dropped my truck's mirrors off to get painted. Then I go and get some castrol 5w30 to put in the Neon as a first oil change hoping it settles the tick some and put a thousand or so miles on before I dump the good stuff from Nick in. I was also going to put the Ams tranny fluid in today too. Jacked it up and got it on stands, get my oil filter wrench, ready set, wait... The underside of the engine is reddish colored and moist. Tranny fluid it appears. Great, probably a bad gasket. The car has been shifting a bit more rough than it was last week. Think this is why.. Then I look for the oil drain plug and its completely stripped.... Wow.

Hopefully this car was not a mistake. I should have took it to a mechanic before buying it... Damn it. Well, my mechanic will take a look at things since a CEL is also illuminated ( code read P0340 camshaft positioning sensor ). I am happy that I didn't rely on it as super dependable like the truck! Lucky I had bought used F150 mirrors to run as my originals get painted. Fact is I wish I didn't drop them off because that is $50.00 that could have gone to the car repair which is more important than truck enhancement.

Guess everybody has their struck of bad luck. I'll probably drop it off tomorrow and hopefully get some info on whats up by Saturday.

Keep your chin up Darren! Like Jim said, hopefully it isn't anything major and you will be back on the road with little $$$$ invested. At least you got some transmission fluid to refill it with.
