My DRL's quit working, any ideas?

Where is your DRL sensor located? Could it be an issue there?

As far as I know, they are controlled by the ambient Light sensor on the top of the dash. That sensor also tell the Headlights to come one when it senses no light. I had a problem with that last summer, my headlights were coming on every time I started the truck, even in bright sunny daylight. I replaced the ambient light sensor and not only did my headlights start working fine again, but the DRL's came on during the day, as they weren't on when the headlights were coming on. My headlights still funcion as normal so I would assume the light sensor is till working fine. Here is a write up I did on the light sensor replacement.

I have not Idea of your abilities so dont take this wrong. How are you checking the Fuse? Visually or with a test light? If you have Power at the fuse and the relay has tested good then I would check the sockets. if you still dont have power at the socket check the wires going IN to the socket. Make sure you check BOTH positive and ground. If you still dont have power then i would start looking for the DRL Module. I good wiring diagram would be well worth having. Might I suggest. www.alldatadiy.com It cost about 20 bux a year but is is IMO well worth it.

I only visually checked the fuse. I'll test it with my test light, but I might have to wait till my wife gets home if it has to be in drive for the fuse and relay to be powered. That way she can be in the driver's seat with her foot on the brake with the truck in drive so I can verify for sure that everything should be on.

I thought you disabled your auto headlights and put amber bulbs in your DRL's?

Who knows, but if you've had weird things happen with it in the past it may be the same thing?

no, I'm not sure. Like I stated in previous posts, I tested the bulbs, those are known to be good. I also tested the relay, which is good. The fusse doesn't appear to be blown, I held it in front of a light and looked at it very closely. But I have yet to break out my test light yet. Thats why I started this thread, to see if there was anything I should look for or test. Once my wife gets home this afternoon, I'll have her assist me so I can probe the relay terminals, fuse, and the actual bulb sockets. I need her to put the transmission in drive for me since thats the only time the DRL's actually come on. I wonder if I can do it myself if I just disconnect the wire from the parking brake, so the truck doesn't "see" the parking brake applied? Then I can have the truck in drive but with the brake safely applied so I can get out the truck and test the stuff under the hood.

The way the lights operate, is the light sensor tells the computer whether its dark or sunny. If its sunny, or daytime outside, the computer will turn on the DRL's (provided that the truck is in drive and the parking brake is off). If the sensor can tell that its dark outside, it will automatically turn on the headlights. When my sensor failed, it turned on the headlights all the time, day or night. So obviously it wasn't sensing any light. So once I replaced the sensor, all light funtions returned to normal, both with the headlights and DRL's. But now, only my DRL's are acting up and the headlights still stay off until it get dark, which leads me to believe the sensor is still working fine and my problem is elsewhere.

I did, but then I disabled the DRL's too since they burned much brighter than than the side markers. Now I just turn on the side markers when I first start it up and roll that way.

I'll fix mine if its a simple fix. But if its something extreme, or if I can't figure it out, I may end up leaving them off.
