You could not give me a Chrysler car.

Really?

You're right about the resale though...I'm hoping that the Jeep Grand Cherokee tanks as much or more than the Buick Rainier...

I don't think the Grand Cherokee will tank, neither will the Avenger. They both have a niche that they can fill with perfectly satisfactory results. As a matter of fact, I bet the Grand Cherokee is a major hit with lots of folks, although it WILL lose many of the "purists" which stuck around even through the last gen with IFS.

Anymore, I think most manufacturers are putting out good vehicles that are going to be pretty comparable to other brands (features and reliability). They wouldn't still be around if they didn't since consumer information is so much more readily available. Basing decisions on a bad experience with a brand 10 years ago still happens, but is a lot less accurate than it was a few years ago. Just my 2 pennies.

I have never felt more indifferent about how a car looked. Matt, go get your eyes checked.

My mom has had a '97 Stratus since new and we've never had a problem with it. Trans went out around 120k (stupid Chrysler still can't get transmissions to last) and the head gasket was replaced a few months after we bought it (was under warranty and was a recall). Now recently it has been running really ruff, but that's with 160k.

thoses are problems... no? :p

According to AutoNews.com :

Avenger retooled

Engineers widened the track of the Avenger by an inch and lowered the vehicle in the front and rear for a “more aggressive stance.” The car also will get wider tires.

The standard engine will be Chrysler's 2.4-liter, four-cylinder World Gas Engine, which has been recalibrated and now will be connected to a six-speed automatic transmission. The Pentastar V-6 also will be offered.

The Avenger's sheet metal remains unchanged, but the car will get some tweaks including a new front fascia with the new Dodge grille.

Inside, the Avenger will have a new instrument panel with new bezels and gauge faces and the new Dodge-three-spoke steering wheel.

I kind of like the updated front-end and it looks like they improved the inside some. If Ford did something similar to the Taurus or Fusion, you'd be yelling that they were just shipping the same old crap, when they really needed to be making big changes.. IMO, the Taurus and Fusion are both much better cars than what this thing will ever be.. at least until they do a major renovation and not just a face-lift.. :dunno:

I admit is was a bit of an overstatement. The SRT8 stuff really rocks and their trucks are sweet. I was mostly speaking from a resale point of view. I think their quality has really improved. Hopefully the resale value will follow suit.
