So within the next few months I'm looking to get my exhaust re-done on my 03 Lightning and would like some opinions. Currently its just the stock exhaust no X-pipe and the Flowmaster 40 series mufflers. I'm not much for sound on this one as my other truck is loud enough. I'm looking for strictly performance gains. Thanks.

Switch to straight through performance mufflers. Borla Pro XS, or XR-1s, Magnaflow 14", 11", or the wicked sounding Magnapacks would be a great muffler change. Maybe Dynomax Bullets if you want the wicked volume and straight through performance. If you can save up $1400, the Dynatech LT system with hi-flow cats is also a great choice, or if you can get away without cats ( which I guess you can since your other truck is catless ) go for some OBX LTs for $500 some and delete the resonators on them and run either of the suggested mufflers.

Of course as i expected Darren be the first to post  in my mind it comes down to the Bullets or the Magnapacks then the X-pipe and some cool tips. But i'm interested on how the Borla's sound never really seen a set up on these trucks that often. Not too sketchy on the headers though don't really wanna spend the extra cash for the light gain then the possible coating to keep the heat down. Also should I just keep it to the 2.5" piping

Of coarse because i'm Mr.Exhaust .

check some Youtube vids out. AVfrog on the F150 forum has true dualed Pro XS X piped no cats, hes easy to find in the exhaust section. Check the video out.

I just swapped my 40 series Flowmaster with a Magnaflow and am happy with the results. Increased low end on the truck and less drone.

Correction Darren drone "wasn't" a problem" its actually much quieter with the flowmasters, on the inside anyway haha but with the Glasspacks holy shit it was annoying but cool at the same time haha and if your wondering what he's talking about here's a video with the glasspacks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNnGfrXebLQ

and from what i've heard with the Pro XS i think magnaflow and the bullets are still the winners here, heard the bullets on a black supercrew on youtube and it sounded wicked even with the cats still on (username: therealmig89) and i've seen a few magnapack vids which also sound awesome

Here are a few more vids for ya. True duals with high-flows, x-crossover, and Bullets. Bullets are getting more and more popular. As always, plug in some better speakers before listening.
